Meet Chico Morales

Public service has been part of my life since I was 16, when I started as a volunteer firefighter. I later spent 25 years and one day in law enforcement, including school-resource and supervisory roles here in Camden, before retiring as a police sergeant in November 2025.

My career also took me to Iraq, where I worked on Personal Security Details protecting U.S. senators and ambassadors in a war zone. That work reinforced a standard I still live by: when someone places their trust in you, there is no room for shortcuts.

Today, the work is different. The respect I have for your trust is the same.

I learn your pets’ routines and follow your care instructions, from feeding and medication to the little things that help them feel comfortable. Some pets are ready to be friends right away. Others need patience and space. I don’t expect your pets to adjust to me. I adjust to them.

I also pay attention to the home: a package at the door, a gate left open, a possible leak, or a pet behaving differently. If something needs your attention, I let you know. After every visit, you receive photos and a short update.

I’m personally involved in scheduled visits and the photo updates you receive, supported by a small, trusted local team. Wateree is a licensed and insured business, owned by a retired Camden police sergeant and focused only on Kershaw County.

I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, and Wateree serves Kershaw County only. Staying local lets me focus on the families and pets here in Camden, Lugoff, Elgin, Bethune, Boykin, and the surrounding community.
